Initial idea 1 and research

My current idea is to create a talk-bot that helps people that are having a mental health crisis, this would include panic attacks, anorexia, depression, just to name a few. These talk-bots will have characters that go alongside them, these would match the crisis, so the depression would be light purple, or the panic attack would be sea blue, this is so that they are calming colours that contrast to the typical colours associated with the crisis, such as red for panic attack and black/purple for depression.

Think about accessibility, and clicks to mean different things, look into haptics and wearable tech that helps it, peoples comfort habits such as pulses, different functions that would help different people, if it would be able to get up on the home screen immediately.

Research into the idea

What is mental health?

"Good mental health means being generally able to think, feel and react in the ways that you need and want to live your life. But if you go through a period of poor mental health you might find the ways you're frequently thinking, feeling or reacting become difficult, or even impossible, to cope with. This can feel just as bad as a physical illness, or even worse."

"Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder."

What is a Talkbot and how to make them?

A talkbot (chatbot) is a software application used to conduct online conversations, usually through texts. They are designed to simulate the way a human would behave in a conversation.

I found this one website where you can create one without coding it, it works similarly to XD.

Similar chatbots

Woebot- is a chatbot that monitors the moods of users and provides them a place where they can express their thoughts and emotions through conversation.

Moodkit- is a mobile application that helps users alleviate symptoms of mental illness, this is done through guided activities that identify and change negative thought patterns, tools that rate and chart moods across time, and text journaling using custom templates.

Moodnotes- it works with users imputing their mood for their day, rating their mood, and providing a short description or some context about their emotion. The app then recognises the user's mood as negative, it asks question to detain the user's thought processes, emotional reasoning, or perhaps needless worrying.

Pacifica- this is an app that can help anxiety issues based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-bases principles. Tools and activities include meditation, relaxation, mood and health tracking tools.
